There are not a lot of numbers yet to get differential numbers for defenders yet. But there are some good games coming up that I think will give good results. Keep reading to see who they are.
Kenny Mansally (Real Salt Lake) vs Colorado
Owned by: 5.3%
Real Salt Lake has a promising game against Colorado in week 3 and there are several options if you want to get representation from RSL in your lineup. Mansally is a great value option. His total points are 2 less than Schuler and he come in $1.0m less. He’s also earned over 20 CBIs and Recoveries in the last two games. The only worry is that he’s also picked up a couple of yellow cards.
Matt Besler (Kansas City) vs Chicago
Owned by: 22.3%
It’s safe to say that Kansas City’s loss to Toronto last week was a bit of a shock, regardless, they still have a defense that has a solid history and is worth having on your team. SKC plays Chicago at home in Week 3 and if Chicago is unable to resolve it’s offensive problems from the last 2 games, SKC should be able to earn it’s first clean sheet. Besler is one of the top options for SKC defender coverage. Over the last two games he’s earned 31 CBIs, 16 Recoveries and received 0 yellow cards (unlike his other $6.0m counterpart Collin). If you are looking for a cheaper option, Chance Myers is you man.
Todd Dunivant (LA Galaxy) vs Chivas
Owned by: 12.9%
LA is coming off of a big win in week 1 and a 0-0 draw in the CONCACAF Champions League. They are playing Chivas at home in Week 3 and another good defensive performance is not beyond expectation. There are not a lot of numbers to look at year for LA (since they have only played 1 MLS game) but Dunivant is still a good budget option for the LA defense. He pulled down an assist in week 1 and has good CBA and recovery numbers.
These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
