KFC’s Fantasy MLS Forward picks – Week 5

Forwards

As we mentioned last week, forwards have been pretty hit or miss so far and that does not look to be changing any time soon, especially with the return of some of the big time midfielders. We really only have 1 main forward recommendation, and he’s on a bye this week.

Big 3
Chris Wondolowski (HOU v SJ), Robbie Keane (TOR vs LA), and Thierry Henry (NY vs PHI).

Keep reading for the rest.

Marco Di Vaio (Montreal) vs Real Salt Lake
Price: $8.6m
Owned by: 6.9%

It you are looking for ways to get on the Montreal train, De Vaio should be on your list. He has scored 2 goals in the last 2 games and is also a PK taker. As mentioned before, the game against RSL has the potential to be tight and could very well end in a 0-0 draw. But if there are goals to be scored, Di Vaio is a prime candidate for getting one. But just a side note, Montreal have a couple of bye weeks coming up, so you may not want to overload.

Jack McInerney (Philadelphia) vs New York
Price: $7.9m
Owned by: 3.3%

McInerney’s low ownership does make him a candidate for differential, but his current form is enough for us to add him to out 3 picks. He has 2 goals in the last 2 games and when combined with Le Toux, they both pose enough danger that a defense will be punished if they give one too much space. He’s also lost some value since the start of the season, but his current form means that you could see some price rises soon.

Juan Agudelo (Chivas) vs Vancouver
Price: $8.2m
Owned by: 10.1%

Agudelo’s ownership almost doubled from last week. That says a lot about the kind of form that Chivas is in and the confidence people have in them, I mean, you would not spend $8.2m on a bench warmer. He’s earned 2 goals an 1 assist, which makes him the 2nd highest scoring player on Chivas’s team. This guy is all attack, so don’t expect many bonus points from him, but he’s one of the best chances Chivas has for goals.

Differential

Deshorn Brown (Colorado) vs Portland
Price: $6.0m
Owned by: 12.6%

We like Brows a lot, but we don’t like the rest of his team enough to bump him into one of the main 3 picks. Portland is not a team that has a strong record for keeping clean sheets, so he does have a chance and he’s playing a home game. He’s also cheap, starts, and has been gaining value.  If you need a 3rd forward, you’d be foolish to not take a long look at Brown.

These are my picks, if you think there should be more names on this list, please leave a comment or come to r/FantasyMLS and comment on the post. You can also leave a message on our Facebook page. Keep checking back for more updates through the week for other positions.
